Canada’s major railways have instituted an anti-pollution policy which mandates that they shut off train diesel locomotives at stations and / or freight yards while stationary. Staticon railway chargers are on-site to boost and recharge diesel locomotive starter batteries. These chargers are available in 32 V and 64 V (16 and 32 cells) for lead acid batteries in 100, 150 and 200 A capacities. They feature the standard 8 hour charge program (an automated constant current boost charge followed by a constant voltage finish charge). Rail-side chargers are natural convection cooled and CSA certified.
